All of our silver castings are made using the lost wax casting process. Here are our steps for casting:
- Carve out our design from hard wax.
- Make a mold.
- Shoot injection wax into our mold.
- Sprue the injection wax.
- Attach the sprues to a wax tree which is attached to a flask base.
- Invest.
- Melt out our wax from the investment. This leaves an impression of the wax design that used to be there in our investment.
- Burn out in an oven. This is done over the course of several hours and goes up to 1350°.
- Melt our silver.
- Cast the designs using a vacuum casting machine.
After our items are cast, we then pickle, clip the sprues from our cast tree and lightly tumble all of our pieces.
